2014 is such a hodge-podge year for humanitarian causes, victories mixed with heartbreak and tragedy, but WeWinCon wants to continue to help where we can and provide incentive for our readers to do the same. We’ve just posted four new ways Red Stylo readers can pledge to worthy causes in our online store: through the Ice Bucket Challenge and the ALS Association, The Mercury Phoenix Trust, St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memory of Robin Williams, and Doctors Without Borders (MSF). Check em out below. Every dollar makes a difference!

Our upcoming KILLER QUEEN comic anthology is a tribute to our love of the band’s music, but the band members continue to inspire in other ways. They established The Mercury Phoenix Trust in Freddie Mercury’s memory. From their website: “The Mercury Phoenix Trust was founded by Brian May, Roger Taylor and their manager Jim Beach in memory of rock band Queen’s iconic lead singer FREDDIE MERCURY who died in 1991 from AIDS. In the last 21 years the Trust has given away over 15 million dollars in his name and funded over 700 projects in the global battle against HIV/AIDS. We need your support to maintain our present donor level and to keep funding the desperately needed HIV/AIDS initiatives globally. Together, help us to use Freddie’s memory, his charisma and drive to eradicate this disease.”

You can either visit our store to donate $50 to The Mercury-Phoenix Trust and then receive a code for $10 OFF books and merch from Red Stylo, or give independently here. Email proof of your $50 donation via our Contact Us page and we’ll email the coupon code worth $10 in our store to you!

Robin Williams was a personal and beloved favorite actor/performer. He was a very generous supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital before his death, however, and they had this to say about him on their site: “Mr. Williams generously gave his time to raise awareness and funds for St. Jude and for our patients battling childhood cancer. His humor brought bright smiles and laughter to our patients and families and his generosity deeply touched the hearts of all who knew him. He and his family remain in our thoughts and prayers.”

In memory of Robin Williams, donate $50 to St. Jude’s through our store and immediately receive a code for $10 OFF books and merch from Red Stylo, or give independently here. Email proof of your $50 donation via our Contact Us page and we’ll email the coupon code worth $10 OFF in our store to you!

doctors-without-borders

The Ebola outbreak in West Africa is the worst the world has ever seen, and it is not contained. From the Doctors Without Borders website: “The scale of the current Ebola epidemic is unprecedented in terms of geographical distribution and the numbers of cases and deaths. There have been 528 cases and 337 deaths since the epidemic began, according to the latest World Health Organization (WHO) figures.” Organizations like the International Red Cross and Doctors Without Borders (MSF) are key groups that send supplies and medical personnel to aid in disaster relief all over the world.

At this time, MSF’s Ebola effort is fully funded because MSF can no longer send personnel to the affected region–the disaster has reached a level where private aid is limited in reaching the sick and dying and governments must step in. However, unrestricted donations to support Doctors Without Borders help continue their efforts when aid can begin again, and the Red Cross and MSF are the most experienced and needed in crises of this magnitude. Visit our store to donate $50 to either the International Red Cross or Doctors Without Borders and immediately receive a code for $10 OFF books and merch from Red Stylo. You can also donate independently to MSF here. Email proof of your $50 donation via our Contact Us page and we’ll email the coupon code worth $10 OFF in our store to you!
