We here at Red Stylo Media, have a long list of contributors, artists and writers. Each of these individuals are crazy cool, and although this comes through in their work, sometimes the little details can be missed. So! We’re letting you on what makes these fellas’ tick.
Our next chat is with Shaun Noel, writer for “The Play is the Thing!”
Q: Hey Shaun! So first what are you major influences?
A: J.R.R. Tolkien, Robert Kirkman, Alan Moore, Brian Michael Bendis, Gail Simone, Brian K. Vaughn, Norman Rockwell and many more.
Q: That’s a varied list, Kirkman and Rockwell couldn’t be more different! Does that reflect on your favorite place to pick up comics?
A: Sure does! Midtown Comics in Time Square New York. They never sell out and all business.
Q: How did you get into comics?
A: I have read comics since I was young but then I ran across Batman: The Killing Joke and knew I wanted to write them for a living. I ran into a great artist Abede Lovelace and we decided to work together on various projects.
Q: Do you have any long term projects?
A: Beside numerous projects I have in mind, Abede [Lovelace] and I have a book called City of Walls that we have been working on for a few years. We are at the the New York Comic con every year with a new issue.
Q: Okay, that sounds great! If you had to pick, what would be your dream team:
A: Would be to co-write with Gail Simone and Robert Kirkman and art by Nicola Scott or Doug Manke
Q: Marvel, Indie or DC?
A: I like Marvel and DC equal as they have great creators.
Q: Last question, what would your super power be?
A: Invulnerability. Seems like the inability to get hurt would go a long way in a fight.
Big thanks to Shaun for chatting with us, we’re praying for that Robert Kirkman / Norman Rockwell cross over just as much as you! If you’d like to check out more of Shaun Noel’s work, here’s City of Walls.
And Don’t forget to pick up Shakespeare Shaken to read Shaun’s “The Play is the Thing!”
Adios!
