Most of the media time we’re lucky to get here at Red Stylo centers around our comics titles, and it’s been a while since I’ve had the opportunity to talk about the actual process for a writer of both comics and prose. Much of the our conversation was about National Novel Writing Month and writing fiction, but Brian LeTendre, an author and comics writer himself, was very generous to give our ongoing Kickstarter for 27, A Comic Anthology another hit of the spotlight on his See Brian Write Podcast. Red Stylo has previously been featured on Brian’s other show, Secret Identity Podcast and I always look forward to chatting with this great writer and friend, on air and off.
A lot of ground covered in this one: the entire writing spectrum of process, mechanics, and we even delve a little bit more into my not-so-secret pen fetish. I’m curious to know how the writers in Red Stylo’s audience feel about some of the questions that pop up, so have a listen, and then chime-in down below in the comments.
We’ve got the whole hour, so jump right in at the beginning!

27, A Comic Anthology is a collection of original comics and art inspired by music’s infamous “27 Club.” An iconic group of music artists achieved musical stardom early and then died at the age of 27, including greats like Kurt Cobain, Amy Winehouse, Jim Morrison, Janis Joplin and Jimi Hendrix, among many others. The anthology features stories and art from over 54 creators, and the #ROCKHARD Edition (a signed and numbered premium hardcover, limited to 1000 copies) is a Staff Pick on Kickstarter now!
